Abutilon: Our plant pick of the month!
Abutilon, also known as Chinese Lantern or Flowering Maple, is a favorite in our climate. They will flower continuously from late spring through fall. Many named varieties are available with blossoms that range from small, narrow bells to larger flowers resembling hoop skirts. You can find an Abutilon in every shade of red, orange, yellow or pink, and even white.
An upright, arching habit makes Abutilon ideal for hanging baskets and containers. They are easily espaliered on a wall or fence. Planted free-standing in the garden, they may require support. Hummingbirds adore this plant!
