The Cinco de Mayo rose is a lovely floribunda.

According to Charles Dowling of the San Francisco Rose Society, if you cut out the first, largest bud from a rose spray, the remaining buds will open uniformly.
To enjoy rose sprays as cut flowers, first cut the branch to an outward facing stem, then bring inside and place in a glass of water and cut the stem again (under water) and place quickly in your vase. This will allow the stem to continue to “drink” water.
These roses can last up to a week longer than just cutting and plopping into a vase. Charles recommends changing the water in the vase frequently and adding a teaspoon of sugar to the bottom of the vase before refilling with water. He says you can do this with florist bouquets, too.
